Teaching Ministry
Read about Melanie and her desire to take up a teaching ministry by instructing new Christians in the Word:
My name is Melanie Knotts and I feel called to a teaching ministry to mentor others in the Word. I am married to my husband Michael and we live in Texas, U.S.A. We both work full-time jobs, and we love attending our local church and getting involved as servants in Christ.
I am the older of two. My sister has four kids and I love being an aunt to those children. They bring much joy and happiness to our family. My sister and I were brought up very strict in religion so I was unsure for much of my teenage and young adult life on what I really believed and how to live my life. I did get away from the church and daily walking with God but was brought back after I married my husband. We decided to find a church home and after much soul-searching, I realized I was right where I was supposed to be. I know God is real and he has watched over me my whole life.
We have been with the church for almost three years now. I have helped with our women’s ministry by being a part of the council and planning for Bible studies and ladies events. We recently visited a local retirement home where we sang and ministered to the residents there. This made my heart happy and I now feel it is time for me to become not just a member of the church but a proactive leader as well. I admire my pastor and the associate pastors so much. They are always available to help and counsel. They are outstanding mentors and I would love to be like them.
Just recently I was driving for a ride service on my day off and I picked up this gentleman who told me I was taking him to his Bible college. He was taking time from his studies to go help a fellow classmate that was having trouble writing his paper. We talked about school and what he was learning and I found it so interesting. I had always wanted to teach and earned my credentials and certifications to do so, but I never went forward with the career. After talking to this man about Bible school it just clicked: I AM supposed to teach! But not at a school like I had first thought. I am to teach myself and others about God and His Word!
I am so excited to have come across Christian Leaders Institute. I have a Bachelors degree in Health Information Management as well as the teachers certifications and it came with a hefty price tag. I will be paying student loans for a while and I had no hope of being able to pursue any other options that cost money. With a scholarship from CLI, I can continue my education and achieve a degree that would mean more to me than anything. It would provide me with the platform needed to share the Gospel with others. I want to be a disciple that makes disciples
