God Never Ceases to Amaze
My name is Shauline, and I live in South Africa. I am a wife and a mom of a daughter. I am also a student at the Christian Leaders Institute for ministry study online.
My Journey
I grew up in a Christian home. Church on Sundays was the norm. I grew up in a happy and loving family. I had a very close relationship with my grandmother. She often spoke to me about the more serious spiritual things. However, as a teenager, I never paid too much notice to what she had to say. Throughout my life, my grandparents were my most significant support system.
I married at 21. My daughter was born 14 months later. The marriage only lasted five years. Within three months, I divorced and lost both my grandparents.
My Spiritual Awakening
I attended a church event not long after this challenging time. That night, God touched me in a profound spiritual way. I experienced God’s presence. For the first time in my life, I realized there was much truth to what my grandmother told me about God and the spiritual world. That night, I understood that saying I am a Christian and having an intimate relationship with God are two different things.
During the most challenging time of my life, God was my support and rock. I started attending a home Bible study group every Wednesday. I got baptized and grew spiritually. At that moment, I had two spiritual dreams (I can now identify them after this course by the Christian Leaders Institute).
1. To receive my heavenly language (speaking in tongues). God amazingly gave me this gift.
2. To be bold enough to tell and teach people about who God is.
Growing and Changing
I married my wonderful husband a few years later and moved to a new town. Within four years, God placed me as the leader of our own small Bible study group. We meet every Tuesday. I was a stay-at-home mom but felt I was not reaching enough people.
A little more than a year ago, God opened doors once again. I now work at a place where I see and meet new people every day. This is an opportunity to show and tell people who God is.
Finding CLI: Ministry Study Online
I talked to God about my desire to learn more. I came across the Christian Leaders Institute while searching for ministry study options online. It is exactly what I wanted. I can fit the lessons into my busy schedule. I’m grateful for this opportunity. Now, I can apply what I learn and help spread the Gospel to others as well.
I don’t plan too far ahead for the future; I trust God’s plan for me. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11).
