Finding My Way Back Home To Christ

I was born in 1982 and raised in Sydney, Australia. Growing up, my family moved around quite a bit. As a result, it was hard to truly feel comfortable in the environment in which I lived. The second of four children, I grew up in a Catholic home though wasn’t very religious myself. I believed in God, but He was not a priority in my life. During my teenage years, life took a turn and I found myself gravitating towards everything but the Church. After the death of my grandmother days before my 18th birthday, I found myself in a dark place. I began questioning life and the meaning of it all. I even questioned God’s existence for a period of time.
Experiencing God’s Peace
During a trip to the Philippines in 2005 for a friend’s wedding, I came across a local church. While at this church, I experienced something I hadn’t felt in a long time. PEACE! That was the defining moment when I finally woke up. From then on, I decided to make a conscious decision to find my purpose in life. I started attending church on and off, attempted to read and understand the Bible, made lifestyle adjustments, and surrounded myself with better people. To complete my studies to become an English Teacher, I went back to school. I studied Para-medicine to follow my childhood dream of becoming a Paramedic. I was searching for that same PEACE I found at that small church in the Philippines.
In 2012, my mother became ill. She was later diagnosed with lung cancer. She lost her battle in 2017 while I was traveling in the state of Victoria and passed away peacefully in hospital. When I received the news of her passing, I was standing outside St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. Fast forward to 2020, I now live in the state of Victoria, have been baptized and confirmed at that very church, and I am now fully devoted to the Lord. Not a day goes by where I don’t pick up my Bible, where I don’t give thanks to the Lord and spend quality time in His presence.
Ministry Skills Training at CLI
Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) is a blessing in my life. The education it provides will allow me to learn the necessary skills and knowledge that will help me to grow even closer to the Lord. The ministry skills training will help me to spread God’s message to as many people as I can both in Australia and overseas. Wherever the Lord decides to send me, I’ll be prepared thanks to CLI.
