“I learned a lot more about the history of denominations in the USA in this course. This helps me to understand others' perspectives more and to understand the background that they are coming from in our faith. I think this can really help when someone joins a new church, especially if they have a certain previous denominational background. For example, if they wish to join an Evangelical church but grew up in the Baptist tradition, we can show them how we have both shaped each other's denominations over time and all of the common ground that we share as Christians. This can help us understand each other better. I really enjoyed taking this course! The professors are wonderful and the material is really engaging. I especially liked the lectures. They were very in-depth and packed full of a lot of useful information. I think it's simply amazing how we can access such high-quality ministry training from such inspiring, knowledgeable, and experienced Christian leaders! “In this course, I learned how the language of church doctrines were established and gained an appreciation for why we say and do the things we do in a general theological standpoint. I was amazed to finally be able to connect the timeline of church history and the spread of the Gospel through prominent and influential servants of God along with the events of secular history; seeing those who were contemporaries unexpectedly through misunderstood contexts and also separating events and influences I once thought connected that are actually distinct. “The history of the church from its humble roots in America to the present day gives you an understanding of where we started to where we are today. It goes a long ways to should how we started as a new country when religion came to our shores and how we evolve as a nation is very helpful. the men and women who helped shape our lives as christian and what they went through and what worked and what didn't. In my ministry it gives me an appreciation of past people and how and why their ministry succeeded and where some failed. how we learn to adapt as our nation grew to where it is today. I learn some new words like neo-orthodoxy and diesm and piety and so on. I appreciate how professor Green explains each step on how we started and what help shaped our country to where we are today on the religious side and how each group started strong and some just fail to keep their footing in our culture today. I learned so much from where he talked about our founding fathers and what they believed in and how christianity is today compare to a 300 hundred ago or more.”
