My name is Kristel Hunt. I have a calling to minister. Therefore, I am online studying ministry and Bible courses at the Christian Leaders Institute.
My husband, Greg, and I live in a small town near Branson, MO. We have been blessed with 28 years of wedded bliss, two sons, and a daughter-in-law. Looking back over my spiritual journey, God has always been with me. Some of the most blessed times I have experienced have been when I am serving God alongside my family.
My Journey
My parents have always been great examples of faithful servants in God’s church. Through their actions, I knew the importance of giving back to my church to further the reach of God’s kingdom. So, likewise, God has shown me what it is like to be a part of His family through the gathering of His people in the church.
After I left home to join life with my husband, the church was not high on the list of priorities. I was not confident in sharing my faith, but then God gave me the desire to join a community of believers again. God led me to ask Greg repeatedly to try a church service with me. He reluctantly agreed. In the next few months, God radically changed Greg’s heart. He was a man on fire for the truth. We both had found a home in the United Methodist Church. I served faithfully in the choir, taught Sunday School, and attended Bible study.
We left Wisconsin to live closer to Greg’s parents in Missouri. However, we didn’t leave our faith in Jesus behind. On the contrary, we needed Him even more. Greg needed healing from the anxiety that came with his job in Wisconsin, and we had two young boys that needed to know God. Therefore, I became involved as a Sunday School teacher for the high school students and then teacher and music leader for the children’s ministry at Kimberling City United Methodist Church.
New Direction
One Sunday, a pastor came into the worship service to tell the congregation of a sister church plant in Reeds Spring, MO. It was a brand-new church to be planted in our neighborhood! The Holy Spirit quickened in my heart when I first heard the plan for this new sister church. God called us to help. I quickly became busy helping advertise for the new church as I was a graphic designer in Branson, MO, at the time. Then after a year or so, I said yes to directing the children’s ministry. What a joy! I got to build a children’s program for my boys like the one I grew up in. I had a great calling and passion for my boys to know who Jesus is and what it means to be a part of his family.
Struggles
I have been blessed as I look at the responsibilities God has entrusted me with over the years. Further, I have had a lot of success in these ministries with the help of God. However, I have struggled while living in that blessing. I was never sure of myself, always doubting my abilities and always putting myself down because I believed the lie that everyone was better than I was in some way. Furthermore, I wallowed in “failure” due to my decision to quit my dream of getting a college degree and having a series of jobs that didn’t last more than a few years at a time.
God has not ever left my mind. I have always believed he died for me and forgave me of my sins. And even though I thought I was trusting God, I was not. My emotions sank, and my anxiety grew every year, thinking of what I failed to do as a wife, mother, daughter, and career woman. To top it off, I suffered from migraines lasting for days. They left me in isolation. Therefore, I withdrew from serving alongside my church family for several years.
Growth
Then God led me to search His Word for my identity in Christ. The Holy Spirit confirmed that I must confidently claim this to come out of the isolation that my emotions, anxiety, and headaches put me in. The Holy Spirit was right! My identity and faith in Christ brought me back to participating in service with my church family. I now use my creative talents with the Praise and Communications teams. My church deemed me LifeSong’s graphic artist, as I take care of all the slides for worship services, put together event flyers, and designed our latest t-shirt. What a blessing to feel useful again! And God has not stopped there.
Encountering God
In September 2022, God blessed me with an encounter with Him that I will never forget. I signed up to attend a women’s conference, Ashes to Beauty, with a group of women from the church. I desperately wanted to spend quality time in God’s presence. There was time for praise, listening, and prayer, and no other responsibilities. God and I had great conversations that weekend. I laid down some heavy burdens I didn’t realize I was carrying. I asked God for forgiveness and help in many areas of my life. As a result, God freed me from the heaviness of depression and anxiety. God also confirmed my calling to minister.
Further, on Saturday night, three young women prayed for me as their hands covered my head. Together, we believed God for a miracle. God answered that prayer with instant and total healing from migraine headaches! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
My Calling to Minister and Study at CLI
Since then, I have known that I am accepted through Christ, and He calls me His daughter. I want everyone to know what I know. And to claim that they are known, forgiven, and accepted by God. God has placed a calling on each of us to be a witness of the Good News in Jesus Christ.
Through the Christian Leaders Institute classes and my understanding of God’s Word given by the Holy Spirit, I am better equipped for my calling to minister. I am also better equipped to be an effective witness. I witness to my family, the church, those that have fallen away, and those that don’t know Jesus yet. My gratitude goes to all the visionary partners of CLI that helped make my dream of furthering my education and answering my calling to minister a reality. One day, I pray that I can partner with CLI to fulfill someone else’s dream. God bless you!

Great Faith Network Dream
Greetings, my name is Imonibuebu Onoriode Lucky. I am a student at the Christian Leaders Institute to get ministry school certification.
I am an assistant pastor at Light of Salvation Christ Missions and live in a satellite town in Lagos state, Nigeria. My wife, Queen, has been a chorister in our church here going on two years now. We had our wedding at my church. Since then, I have desired to grow more in Christ and be a great leader to contribute to the decisions that bring about growth in the church.
Throughout my time at Lagos State Polytechnic, where I received my National Diploma in business studies, I periodically coordinated the school students’ fellowship. After my graduation, I continued the fellowship off campus. I named it Great Faith Network. However, I couldn’t continue after four years due to the financial downturn.
My Childhood
I was born again in 2004. Since then, the burden of my calling as a preacher of the gospel has been on my mind. I tried dodging my call through jobs. But, God pressed it upon me to surrender. I grew up in a family where traditional rituals are a service to Jesus Christ. They are good people who instilled some good morals into my childhood. However, as I grew up, I knew there was something more to my life. Yet, I never had an opportunity to identify what it was or how to go about it.
My Salvation
The year I was to travel to Lagos state from Delta state after my secondary school examination, I had a frightening dream. I saw a finger writing in the sky “The return of the son of God is close, repent!” There was great turbulence and fire in my spirit in that dream, and I repented.
After the dream, I began to learn more about God. I prayed but never knew the clear way to learn about God. However, after many of life’s challenges, as I relocated to Lagos, I found a church. There I built up my prayer life and was baptized. From then on, it has been God all the way!
My Ordination
My ordination as a pastor is a gift from God. After I dropped out of Omega Fire Ministries Bible College, I couldn’t complete my pastoral courses. It was due to my job loss and change of apartment. I couldn’t continue with my tuition obligation. I had no extra savings for any unforeseen circumstances. Apart from food expenses, my tuition, and sometimes my salary, I committed to hosting prayer programs and inviting ministers to preach. I felt led to give platforms to people to preach the gospel to save souls and was never bothered. It was a joy to me as it gave me the privilege to talk with and meet powerful men of God. It was through them that I came to know the Lord well. They encouraged me to grow in the knowledge of God and be dedicated to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ.
CLI Study and Ministry School Certification
My dream is to grow in God’s purpose and be an effective leader that will train many to be productive in the work of the gospel. Hopefully, I can restart Great Faith Network. With the online free ministry training at Christian Leaders Institute, I hope to push forward in my goal with confidence.
Christian Leaders Institute is an answer to my prayer of having ministry school certification to back up my pastoral calling. With CLI, I can work through my ministry training while still maintaining my present job. My job has shift changes, which makes it hard, but CLI offers the flexibility I need for my schooling. Thanks, CLI! More grace and blessings to you!

A New Creation in Christ
My name is Nathan Sanderson from Iowa, USA. The tuition-free Bible courses online at the Christian Leaders Institute are a blessing for me!
My Youth
I grew up in a good and loving family. I was a good kid and did not get in much trouble. We went to church every Sunday. I believed in the resurrection story and Jesus’ saving me from my sins by dying on the cross. But really, it almost felt like stories in a book. Church was more of a task or a box to be checked off for the week. I went to Iowa State University for a couple of years. Then, I decided to drop out and become a bus driver. While at the bus company, I met a young woman. We married and have two kids that I am very proud of.
My Alcoholism
My alcoholism started casually and socially. It was typically a beer or two and chicken wings with friends once a week. It escalated slowly, and I was drinking more and more. However, it wasn’t a problem until my marriage started to deteriorate. As the divorce became final, I got laid off from my job. This was around Covid shutdowns. I spiraled out of control at that time. It was to the point where I was drinking in the morning and at night. I even got up in the middle of the night to drink. I was drunk all day, every day. Then, I started to get sick and threw up blood. I thought that was normal and that people just did that. I frequently went to the hospital and spent a few days there. When released, I stopped by the store to get more alcohol.
During all of this, my relationship with God did not change because I didn’t have a relationship with Him. I knew the facts, and I believed the facts. However, I did not have a relationship with Jesus. Then, one day, someone invited me to a new church plant in my hometown, New City Church in Ankeny, Iowa. I gained a mentorship relationship with one of the deacons and joined his small group. Finally, he was someone I could count on and trust.
Going to church in itself did not change me. I continued to drink a lot. There were times I was drunk at church. I was driving to church with my kids in the car while intoxicated. One day, the police pulled me over. I got a 9-month no-contact order with my kids, which was very difficult. However, unfortunately, it was not enough to wake me up as I continued drinking.
Time of Change: Salvation
It came time for another child custody mediation. After my lawyer reviewed everything, he said, “Nathan, this is not going to work out well for you. You need to do something.” That day, I enrolled in a 12-month in-house faith-based program called Sheepgate. It is a division of the Adult and Teen Challenge. It is a very intense program with long days. There was lots of studying, daily chapel services, and a lot of time in the Bible. They took everything from me – my car, money, and cell phone. Every minute of the day was structured. This was all by design. Over time, Jesus started to show me who He is and what He wants from me.
Salvation in Christ
One day, a staff member gave a chapel message on Revelation 2:17. “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.” It clicked during that chapel for me. No matter what I did and who I was, I am not that anymore, and I don’t have to be. He took it away. Jesus’ blood washed me clean. I knew what the Bible said about salvation and that Christ died on the cross for me. However, what I was missing was God! This is what it is all about and what He wants! He wants a relationship, and I don’t believe I had that relationship until that chapel service.
After I completed the Sheepgate program in December of 2022, my growth continued exponentially with Christ. To this day, I have no interest in alcohol. That is not me anymore. That is also not human! God took it from me. I don’t recognize the person that entered that program. I am a new person with a new cell phone number, email address, and cleaned-up Facebook. At this point, I am only in contact with Godly men. I have a new life, a new purpose, and new goals. The old me does not exist anymore.
Tuition-free Bible Courses at CLI
My liver has begun to deteriorate again. It isn’t healing the way we had hoped. I am going downhill and now need a liver transplant. Not afraid of dying or of what is going to happen, I trust God. He never lets me down.
I wanted to learn more about the Bible and life in Christ. So I searched online and found the Christian Leaders Institute. The tuition-free Bible courses are what I am looking for.
Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into our death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we, too, may live a new life.” We are all guilty of sin. But, praise God, we all have a gift we can accept from Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross for us so we could be raised back to life with Him. He created us to be with Him. He wants us to be with Him for eternity. That’s what the cross is all about. God bless!
