“My name is Jodie Powell and I live in the United States, I suppose faith and Christianity is different in the United States than some other countries. Most Americans are aware of or are curious about God and His existence, as opposed to some other countries who have never even heard of God and know nothing of Him. To do ministry in the United States is quite different; we are able to seek the training to do so and being a free country we are able to openly share our faith and plant churches.
“I first came to know the Lord as a child, although I did not grow up in a Christian home I frequently attended church with the elderly lady who lived across the street from out home. At the age of 5 I asked Jesus to come into my heart, I fell from the Lord many times growing up but finally came to the Lord once again at the age of 30, repenting of my sins and surrendering my life to Him for His purpose.”
Jodie Powell Receives a Scholarship
“I feel God has called me to do missionary work, I desire to teach God’s word and His love to those in other countries. I also greatly desire to bring to the Lord those who live here in the United States, as well as in my own community. I want to know so much more about God, I seek knowledge of His word, His love, His will. I prayed for a very long time for God to reveal Himself more to me and to direct me, one evening I felt God calling me to Bible college. I started my search and ended up here at CLI, I asked God “Is this it? Is this the one?” and needless to say here I am! Each day I pray for the Holy Spirit to fill me and give me understanding of all CLI has to teach me, I am so excited to see what God has in store for me through CLI, what a blessing and wonderful opportunity.

Jodie Powell grew up knowing the Lord. As many others who came to know Christ at an early age, Jodie Powell experienced the spiritual struggles of many years of wandering. Now Jodie Powell feels God’s call on her life. Jodie Powell is ready to leave her country and go out into the world in the name of God, preaching the gospel in His service. She is not concerned with the comforts of the U.S. or the discomfort of a foreign culture. Jodie Powell is concerned with receiving a solid foundation in the scripture for her work. Adesina Akanni –
“I came to know the Lord as my saviour in November 1997 in my final year at the then Ondo state university, now Ekiti State University. Since then I have grown in grace by the help of the one who saved my soul from the wrath of hell and reconciled me back to Himself.
“In the UK, there are different walls or partitions built by the Government legislation to reaching the lost for Christ. One of these is the notorious law that bars you as an employee from sharing your faith with a colleague at work place. These various legislation are further compounded by the British apathy to Christ and what He could offer. Indeed, Britain, where I sojourn, is filled with all kinds and manners of challenges built by the enemy to reaching people for Christ.
“Our desire in ministry is to positively transform every community and every life that would have contact with the power in the word of God.
“Therefore, we have adopted what we called the outreach, impacting, and releasing strategy to achieving our ministry objective.
“The outreach is to recruit potential soldiers of the cross, training them to be ministers of the cross and releasing them to plant more churches.”
Adesina Akanni Receives a Scholarship
“The scholarship from the Christian Leadership Institute would facilitate the knowledge required to fulfilling these goals in ministry.
“We need the prayer of the saints to be strong to fulfill this ministry that God has committed into our hands.

Adesina Akanni has a vision. Today, Britain is a country filled with apathy toward Christ and barriers to preaching to the lost, but Adesina Akanni envisions an army of soldiers of the cross breaking down those barriers. Adesina Akanni has a means to fulfill his goal, but he lacks the training, knowledge, and experience. A scholarship to CLI will provide Adesina Akanni with all of these so that he can further pursues his ministry calling.

Andy Miller –
“Hi, I’m Andy Miller. My family and I are currently serving as missionaries to Kenya, Africa. Our time here in Kenya has been a wonderful and growing experience. We have seen the hand of the Lord in many areas and seen His faithfulness in our own lives as well.
“I grew up going to church out of ‘duty’, but didn’t have a true relationship with Jesus until my senior year of high school when the Lord called me out of darkness and into His marvelous light. I love Jesus, and count it a joy to serve Him.
“My heart in ministry is in evangelism. My ‘dream’ would be to be a self-supported evangelist to my community and the surrounding areas.”
Andy Miller Receives a Scholarship
“I appreciate CLI giving the opportunity to receive training at no cost. With not receiving an income as missionaries, we keep a tight budget that would not allow me to receive any formal education if it were not for the supporters that make CLI scholarships possible.
“Pray for us in our ministry here in Kenya that we would continue to be faithful to the calling on our lives and see fruit from our ministry as we spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Andy Miller has left the comfort of his home country to become a missionary in Kenya. There are few people who have the courage to go even this far, but Andy Miller wants to go further. He wants to improve in the areas where he is lacking. Andy Miller desires more than anything to serve God to the fullest extent possible. He dreams of becoming a self-sufficient missionary in the community he is already serving.
