Lawson Makola –
“I am a born again Christian. I live in the Islamic dominated coastal city of Mombasa in Kenya, East Africa. For a long time, I have served in various ministries within the region. Currently we have a very young evangelical ministry. We are preaching the gospel with the available resources (hiring equipment now and then) and reaching many Moreso Moslems. Every weekend we usually do door to door outreach or open air campaigns converting many to believing Christians. I am in charge of these outreaches. Even though there’s freedom of worship, we usually get resistance when it comes to open air gospel campaigns because of the Islamic factor. But we are not giving up. Our big challenge is finances; currently we do pay monthly for the meeting hall and electricity. We pay weekly for the chairs and the fee for the open air grounds. We are also paying for PA system whenever we go for gospel outreach.
“I was witnessed to by a young man years ago until I understood the difference between having Jesus in you and just being an ordinary churchgoer. Initially I just used to a good churchgoer born in a religious sort of home.
“We desire and dream to reach as many people as people and convert them to believing Christians (as it has begun now) and God confirming his word with miracles, signs and wonders. We are just five months old but wish to reach the whole world with the gospel. At the same time making believers into soul winners. We have targets and strategies we are working towards. We are basing our dream on Matthew 24:14 and Isaiah 40:3-5.”
Lawson Makola Receives a Scholarship
“If i get a scholarship, it would do much more than just for myself. I am an assistant evangelical pastor. I wish i can get a full scholarship because I don’t even have even any money to give a free willing donation. Whatever little we get in the church as offering and tithe, we are putting into our soul winning ministry. The senior pastor and I don’t get any salaries. If I get to an opportunity to finish this training and get my certificates, I’ll have to train others in our church to get them equipped with proper knowledge for the ministry work ahead in this Islamic region and beyond. Right now we train others just with any Christian materials we get here and there. (We too need a syllabus and materials for our Sunday school. It’s about hundred children now).
“We need prayers for God’s favor with the administrators in our region. We need prayers for God to touch people in this region (note that we are very near to Somali, the Al Shabaab zone). We need prayers for God to touch people who can give or support us to get the PA system, own ground/hall.(We need even just a pair of wireless microphone) We seriously need some sponsors (if anything) for us to move on smoothly. We need God’s presence to go with us as he did with Israel during the exodus.”
Lawson Makola serves God in a very poor region of Kenya. Not only is it a poor region, it is also dominated by the Islamic faith. This makes ministry for Lawson Makola difficult, and the poverty increases that difficulty. Lawson Makola wants to get ministry training. He knows that ministry training would help him be more effective in his efforts for Christ. However, Lawson Makola doesn’t receive a salary at his church – even his senior pastor doesn’t receive a salary. When Lawson Makola came across Christian Leaders Institute, he knew that a scholarship here could help him achieve greater success in his work for the Lord.

Jodie Kok –
“My name is Jodie and I live in Michigan in the United States of America. I feel very blessed to live in this country because there are many churches and many opportunities to serve the Lord. We are free to believe the Bible and worship and practice our religion according to its instructions.
“I was born in a Christian home and raised in churches, Christian schools and by a believing family. My walk with God became personal for me at a young age, and many experiences and events in my life have strengthened and deepened my faith and relationship with God. One example of this is a miraculous healing I experienced a few years ago and have been able to share with many people.
“My passion in life is to teach, and I desire to connect people with God. I struggle with limitations, however, since I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which prevents me from participating in a great many activities and ministries. However, my love of teaching and my knowledge of technology has led me to the idea of creating videos about Christianity to put on the internet, in hopes of reaching both believers and non-believers with knowledge and encouragement.”
Jodie Kok Receives a Scholarship
“Because of the disability brought about by my illness, I am unable to attend many church events and certainly cannot enroll in a normal seminary. Furthermore, I am unable to work, so my finances are strained. Christian Leaders Institute gives me the opportunity to study on a flexible schedule without having to travel. Without donations and support providing me a scholarship, I would definitely not be able to pursue this education.
“Please pray for me to have physical energy and clarity of mind so that I can study diligently. Pray also that I will have the energy and knowledge to create and publish useful and inspired videos, and that these videos will be viewed by those who need to hear the message of the Gospel”
Jodie Kok has a deep desire to serve God, but her life is strongly affected by a disability. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome prevents Jodie Kok from pursuing her dreams through traditional venues, but she doesn’t want to let that stop her from making an impact for Christ. Jodie Kok wants to reach out to people through online videos, pursuing her vision of sharing God’s word through a venue that accommodates her disability. Christian Leaders Institute can help Jodie Kok realize her ministry dreams.

Tungamirai Musendekwa –
“I come from Zimbabwe where a lot of ministry work is being carried out in a peaceful environment. I have managed together with my family to establish a congregation in the newly acquired suburb.
“I was born again when I was doing my secondary education in 1985. I used to be very stubborn and my parents were surprised when I was baptized and gave my life to Jesus. I became a totally different person. Some of my friends thought I was going to go back to my past activities but I persevered.
“My dream is to bring many souls to Jesus. I have an ambition to see a fellowship of congregants. I have a calling in the healing ministry. I intercede for the Church, the family and my country. I believe in the power of Jesus.”
Tungamirai Musendekwa Receives a Scholarship
“I believe the scholarship will help go through all the necessary basics and detail so as to equip myself to be able to share with everyone possible the Gospel. I believe at CLI I get the best of what is required in every person’s christian life. The scholarship will be a key for me to be able to study the Bible more and more for I have seen this as very relevant to me.
“I ask that you pray for me to be able to start a project to raise funds for evangelism. I would like the Children’s ministry to grow. I kindly ask that you pray for success in whatever we intend to do to grow the Church. You can also pray that Christ be the one all Glory should go not to me.”
Tungamirai Musendekwa grew up without God, but when he was called to serve God in 1985, his friends and family were amazed at the changes in him. Tungamirai Musendekwa knows what it means to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and he wants others to experience the transformation too. It is this goal that brings Tungamirai Musendekwa to Christian Leaders Institute. Tungamirai Musendekwa sees a scholarship at Christian Leaders Institute as a doorway to winning more souls for Christ.
