Prison Ministry Training – Christian Leaders Institute is reaching out to those bi-vocational ministry leaders who have a passion to receive prison ministry training. Prison ministry training is not that different from traditional ministry training, in fact, it is very similar. The courses at Christian Leaders Institute include topics that have specific implication for prison ministry.
Grant Muhl of South Africa is called to receive prison ministry training at Christian Leaders Institute. This is his story.
Prison Ministry Training Profile of Student Grant Muhl
I currently live in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our country has always been a Christian-based country, but over the years there has been more and more emphasis on African Traditional Religion, which seeks to combine traditional Christianity with ancestor worship. Because of the ancestor worship emphasis, there is also a great importance placed on the spirits of the ancestors, which opens up a large involvement in the demonic.
I was born into a Christian family, and have always been involved in church life. At the age of 13 (October 1976) there was a traveling evangelist who visited our church for a week and held a week long evangelistic campaign. It was at one of these evening meetings that I was confronted with the gospel and convicted of my sin by the Holy Spirit. During the end of evening altar call, I went forward and accepted Christ as my Savior.
I have been involved in different ministries in various churches over the years, including youth ministry, being a deacon, and also leading Bible studies and worship teams.
I have always had a great compassion for people. After my schooling, I spend 3 years doing my compulsory military service (required by all young men in our country at that time). I served my time in the national police force bomb and riot squad. During my time in this unit, I saw tremendous squalour, neglect and depravity among a large portion of our community. God laid it on my heart during this time that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ for ALL people, including the neglected ones that I came across.
I am currently involved in a support and teaching ministry, serving female inmates in prisons across South Africa. There is a great need among inmates to hear the gospel, and there is also a great practical ministry opportunity, as many of these women have been abandoned and rejected by their friends and family.
I have always had great support in ministry from my family. My wife has also constantly been involved in various local church ministries. My two daughters are currently involved with me in the prison support ministry, and visit prisons with me each week.
A CLI scholarship has enabled me to continue to equip myself for effective ministry in the future. Coming from a blue collar family, there has never been finance available to further studies, and a scholarship would be a great blessing to me and my family in ministry.
Pray for an increasing opening for ministry in the prisons. There is always a great resistance to any outside involvement with inmates.
Grant Muhl appreciate those who have made his prison ministry training possible. He hopes to finish this training and become a pastor someday.
Free Online Bible College -Christian Leaders Institute is an free online Bible college that offers over 20 free classes covering a variety of topics. Of course, many traditional Bible colleges now offer distance learning as part of their curriculum. With the growth of technology, it’s imperative that more is done online even by institutions of education. Christian Leaders Institute isn’t just another seminary with an online piece to it. It is an free online Bible college – a Bible college with resources, classes, and assignment submission processes that exist entirely online.
The impact of CLI is often best seen in the reflections of students who have gone through the classes. Sam Arthur’s experience with Sermon Construction and Presentation can best be summed up by the following statement from his reflection paper:
My knowledge of the ‘positives’ and the ‘negatives’ of each type of sermon will also guide me to avoid some mistakes that preachers make, especially those who have not been exposed to the knowledge about variety of sermon types. Since I know of the advantages of the various approaches to preaching, I will preach better and have a better impact on the congregation, to the glory of God.
Sam Arthur has already completed several classes at Christian Leaders Institute, and is enrolled in still more for the coming semester. Because Sam lives in Ghana, this training would be difficult for him to obtain without the availability of an online Bible college like CLI. The internet presence of Christian Leaders Institute allows access to people like Sam in any country in the world where internet is available.
Free Online Bible College Keeps Classes Free
Christian Leaders Institute is not just an free online Bible college, it is also free to all students. This is important to many students, since often they come from poor countries, or poor areas of a country, and don’t have the financial means or the time to attend a traditional seminary. The distance learning programs can provide an alternative, but to those overseas where books would not be delivered quickly could experience problems in that regard. Also, it still carries with it the costs of the seminary, which many students cannot afford. This is why Christian Leaders Institute keeps all their classes free. In the introductory class, a 14 session class intended to both offer a basic understanding of Christianity and introduce the user to CLI, Sam Arthur gives some of his reasons for choosing CLI.
Currently I am self-employed and my finances are not in the best of shape. If I could have, I would have paid for and attended the Assemblies of God Bible College in Ghana. I still believe God will help me sort out my finances so I can meet my obligations and continue with the support I used to give when I was in active employment.
Hundreds of other students – leaders who God has called as workers in His harvest – have come to CLI for similar reasons. Many of them are already leading churches. Many are already teaching. Yet they all have one thing in common. They all feel the Spirit of God calling them into the ministry. Without the availability of an free online Bible college and the freedom to give as little or as much as you can afford to the organization, many of these called leaders would continue to preach the word of God without being equipped with the ministry training tools CLI provides.

Preschool Ministry – Some leaders at Christian Leaders Institute are training for preschool ministry at the local church. Many do not believe that ministry training for those in preschool ministry is necessary, but we believe it is never too early to bring faith formative training for children.

effective at preschool ministry. One course that is very helpful is Church and Ministry. In this class many dimensions for church ministry are covered. Leaders in preschool ministry also find the theology classes helpful for bringing scriptural truth to students.
One of the students at Christian Leaders Institute is Cassandra Poole. Listen to how God is working in Cassandra’s life and how she is being directed to preschool ministry and why Christian Leaders Institute is helping her.
Preschool Ministry Student Cassandra Poole
My name is Cassandra Poole and I live in America. I love that I am able to live freely in my faith and my walk. I grew up knowing about the Lord but truly surrendered my life to him at age 23. I suffered from some health issues and was brought to my knees. Thankfully my parents had set a foundation in Christ in me, so I knew exactly where to turn. I identify most with being a small group leader because I am the director at my church’s preschool.
My job is to encourage and grow the teachers in the Lord so that they may do so for their students. I never thought I would end up in leadership, so when it happened I was both excited and surprised. In my geographic area, we are able to speak freely about our faith but although we are free to speak about our faith, it is not always well perceived. My church is so supportive. I meet twice a week with our lead pastor and monthly with the leadership team.
Cassandra could not have received this ministry training since her resources are limited, but through Christian Leaders Institute she has graduated from the Christian Basics Class and has received her full scholarship for further studies.
