I’m originally from the Seattle area, but I am currently living in the suburbs of Chicago. I have moved around quite a bit due to my work, which has been primarily in communications and fundraising.
I’ve been employed by Christian ministries and para-church organizations for my entire professional career. It is not something I set out to do initially, but in retrospect it seems clear the Lord has called me to work for the Kingdom in various ways. However, I don’t always consider my work my ministry. To be sure, ministry does happen all the time in my profession, but I have always considered my *ministry* to be that which I do for the Lord which receives no material compensation.
That is why I am enrolled in the Christian Leaders Institute. I want to be even better equipped for ministry in my personal life. If I am some day called to take more of a leadership role in a church or another para-church organization, I want to be trained, equipped and ordained for the task. These are interesting days, to be sure. Perhaps even the final days before the Lord returns. I want to make the most of the time, because the days are evil. I want to ‘double-down’ on my commitment to the Lord and His work, and that is why this wonderful free training is such a great blessing.
French Ministry Training
French Ministry Training is something CLI is seeing a need for in the world. French is a spoken language in over 40 countries. CLI is in the process of translating classes into French in order to provide French ministry training everywhere.
Over 20 countries in Africa have French as the official language. Graduates of CLI in French Africa report the desperate need for French ministry training. One graduate, Domoina, lives everyday in a place where the Muslim religion is active and spreading. This graduate writes “my goal is to reach people in my country and in French countries, mainly in countries where Muslims still misunderstand the place of women in the family and society. According to the Muslim religion’s point of view in 10 years, Madagascar will be ‘muslimed’.” CLI wants to raise up more leaders in Africa by offering CLI classes in French.
Africa also is a place where Christianity is growing very rapidly. One problem is that many of the ministers have little training for being a pastor in a church. CLI is adding French in order to allow French ministry training to be available everywhere in Africa.
The French Ministry Training is needed in Africa but also in France, Haiti, Belgium and so many more countries. Adding the French language to CLI will allow for millions of more leaders to have the opportunity to be trained for the ministry.
The French program is being lead by Dr. Paul Mpindi, who has a passion to help French speaking people all over the world. Mpindi’s “Mission French Africa exists to preach and teach the Gospel to win French speaking African Muslims to Christ, to disciple African Christians in Biblical stewardship, and encourage the Body of Christ in America.” Mpindi’s vision and the CLI mission connect at a strategic level and French Ministry Training will be available at CLI soon. In rural towns through the world, volunteer fire and disaster first responders provide an essential service to their community. Christians leaders can also provide a necessary service as first responder chaplains for their community.
First Responder Chaplains can fill the following roles:
• Counsel law enforcement officers, emergency medical and firefighter personnel
• Visit the sick or injured
• Give death notifications
• Teach personnel in the area of stress management
• Perform funerals, memorials, and weddings
• Answer spiritual questions
• Provide assistance to victims and their families in communities to deal with emergencies. Such as fire, suicide, auto or plane accident, earthquake, or times of illness, injury, death or significant trauma.
• Ministers to the imprisoned

First Responder Chaplains
Christan Leaders Institute (CLI) is training first responder chaplains like Rich Kauffman from the United States. CLI offers a broad range of advanced classes for people training to be First Responder Chaplains.
Kauffman lives in the US with his wife and three daughters. Kauffman had experiences in his life that led him to want to be part of the first responder chaplains’ team. “After moving to a new town, I was busy with a new job. My wife was fighting a battle that kept her in and out of the hospital for over four years. I did lose touch with my local church. But my family and I stayed in our faith in our home by celebrating the Lord’s life and talking about his teachings. I have been in public safety since high school and have seen many things throughout my career. These led to a lot of trials in my life. A lot of struggling with how much bad can happen to us all and why it is happening. I fought to understand and cope with these issues.”
Kauffman shared his dependence on God. “I started volunteering with a disaster services group and underwent a lot of training with critical incident stress. Through this, I realized that so many people wanted to use their faith as part of the coping mechanisms they have.” Kauffman sees that people going through tough situation need First Responder Chaplains to encourage them to lean on God in hard times.
Kauffman believes volunteer First Responder Chaplains are necessary especially in rural areas. “Living now in a rural, small town USA, I am looking to become ordained to be available to assist our first responders and the people we help in their times of needs. I hope to help lower the amount of stress induced problems that are way too common in our field.” Kauffman sees CLI as a way to become more qualified to assist on the First Responders Chaplains team. “I am looking to further my training through CLI as a means to offer support to those in my community.”
CLI makes First Responder Chaplains training available free of charge. Click Here to find out more details on how you can become ordained locally.
