Hi, my name is Yuen Kei Wan. I am excited to learn the Bible more online at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about free online Bible courses, Click Here).
Born in Hong Kong, I grew up like most children from Asia, studying hard so I will not bring shame to my family. I learned art but not to become an artist since most artists don’t earn enough for a living. Also, I did sports to keep myself healthy.
I became a Christian when I was 12 years old. Even though both of my parents were not in Christ, they were still together. I am their only child. My mum and dad gave the best they could. I grew up in a very structured environment. Deep down I knew there was something missing in my heart, something that would make me happy.
The Search for the Missing Part
Ecclesiastes 2:1 says, “I said to myself, ‘Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.’ But that also proved to be meaningless.”
I was quite a rebellious child. Also, I craved admiration from my fellow classmates when I was in secondary school. I wanted to feel more important and popular. I went to a grammar school with all girls. So, I dressed like a tom-boy trying to get attention. I was doing great in academics before my open heart surgery when I was 15 years old. In fact, I wasted most of my secondary school time on self-pity and also self-admiration.
Challenges
When I grew older, I had an addiction to pornography, and I also had strange sexual desires. I could not bring them up to my parents because I was afraid that it will bring shame to them. I did not think my teachers or friends would accept me if I opened up, so I kept it to myself.
When I was getting my degree in the UK, I got the time on my own. I had an addiction to my laptop. I once believed if someone could fulfill my sexual desires, I would not be able to leave him. With such belief, I went to Germany for my ex. However, after two years, they sent me home because my visa expired. So, it did not work out.
God Showed Up
It seemed all my searches failed, but God showed up. He asked me in my dreams, “Why do you keep destroying my temple?” It happened when I was not very convinced that Jesus was real or if he really resurrected from the dead. It shocked me and brought me back to look for Him because the dream was so vivid. I could see it in my head like yesterday. There were some issues that I needed to address with God before I started to walk with Him.
I asked, “God, where were you when I was suffering?” Since I was young, I had much suffering. There were times when I was in the hospital because of surgeries and checkups. There were unanswered prayers and unfulfilled promises from my loved ones. Each and every one of those moments made me feel heartbroken, abandoned, and fatherless. I was glad that God showed up then, but where was He when I was looking for Him?
It Is Not About Me, But You, God!
Job 42: 5 says, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.”
What brought me to Christ again was because of the death of Jesus’ apostles. No man would sacrifice himself if Jesus is a lunatic, they must have seen Him being crucified and resurrected. That is why they were willing to give up their lives for Christ. Especially as the deaths of the apostles were not pretty. They were humiliated before being beaten almost to death and then killed at last. When thousands of saints were being killed or persecuted in the history of mankind because they claimed to be Christ-followers, I was so blind to not have seen and recognized Him to be God.
In fact, I was so small and yet significant in God’s greater plan. All those things (my prayers that I thought were so important for God to answer and my plans of life that I thought I must follow through) that I grabbed onto so tight left me day by day and bit by bit after I began to read the Bible. John 8:32 says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Also, Matthew 11:30 says, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” The God of this universe never fails me! He is the God who kept waiting for me to trust in Him like when I was 12 years old.
Learning the Bible More Online at CLI
Yet, in Romans 8:35, Paul said, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Then Paul said in verses 39, “…neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Paul wrote this when he was in jail facing the uncertainty given to his life or death by the authorities. Still, he knew his hope was not here on earth. His hope was in the cross of Christ. My problems are not that huge that my God cannot handle, this is the lesson for me to learn to trust His love and faithfulness.
The craving for me to learn more of the Bible online was getting bigger and bigger each and every day. I could not let go of my Bible apps. One of my biggest wishes was to complete a theology college degree and then to move on to do a master’s degree for God. While browsing the internet, God drew my attention to the Christian Leaders Institute. At CLI, my dream can be done safely without travel in this very strange hour of mankind. Most importantly, it can be done without carrying unwanted debt. Thank you, CLI!

CLI Will Help Reclaim Jamaica for Jesus!
My name is Daniel Bennett from Kingston, Jamaica. I am 28 years old, married for over a year, and father to a 3-month-old boy, Caleb. Certified in Information Technology and HR Recruiting, I am a new student here at Christian Leaders Institute to gain ministry knowledge and skills (Learn more about free online Bible courses, Click Here). I am excited to begin my journey here.
I previously had never heard of CLI. However, at the beginning of 2022 on New Year’s Day to be exact, the Holy Spirit told me to enroll in Bible School. He wanted me to go deeper in knowing my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit led me to the internet. I searched there for “free online Bible school.” He directed me to the Christian Leaders Institute website for ministry knowledge and skills training. I was immediately reassured with a peace that confirmed CLI is where I need to start my journey.
My Youth
I grew up in a Christian home where my parents were active in their local church. I grew up with Godly principles. Even though I occasionally strayed from them, I always felt like there was something special God had in store for me to do. I usually played the drums and sang in my local church from a very young age. I accepted Christ at the age of 13. At the time, I thought it was the cool thing to do as I saw some of my other friends who attended the local crusade accept the “altar call” and give their life to Jesus.
However, as a teenager, I struggled to stay focused on walking the path as a young Christian. I got distracted and eventually strayed from the truth. During this time, I attended church rarely. Even though my parents constantly encouraged me to return to the fold and be sold out for Christ, I wanted to do things my way. I remember having two near-death encounters while on the backslidden path. As I recall these encounters with thugs from a local gang in a community I visited, I think about how God’s grace has been upon my life even when I thought nothing of Him and lived a life of sin.
Saved By God’s Grace
Fast forward to June 2019 when I was yet again at another crusade held in one of Jamaica’s most volatile communities. After the message, there was an altar call. I heard the voice of the Lord encouraging me to rededicate my life to Him, and I obeyed. I didn’t want to leave without committing to Christ. So, I got baptized on the spot that very night and began a new walk of faith with Jesus. Since then, I have stumbled in my walk, but every time I look up I can see the hands of Jesus reaching out to pull me back up again.
My spiritual dream is for my country Jamaica. I would love to see a revival of great magnitude take over the people, especially those led astray by the evil one and his adversaries. The young people are at stake because they are no longer raised in Christian homes. Having good morals and values is seldom taught by parents. We need Jesus now more than ever in Jamaica.
Ministry Knowlege and Skills Training at CLI
I hope to use my training at CLI to better equip myself with the skills and knowledge to prepare me for full-time ministry. The Lord has been calling me to ministry. And like Jonah, I have been running from the call. Free ministry training has been essential for me to as I am currently unemployed. So, it gives me the opportunity to use my free time to learn about God and the various ways in which I can spread the Gospel to people all over my country and, by extension, the world.
I am beginning this journey with CLI by faith. God’s help will see me through. My aim is to complete a Bachelor’s Degree here and also complete other courses that are related to my field of ministry.

I am Cornelia Vianen, most people call me Corry. Single and with two children, I am an accountant and live in St. Maarten. I have been an accountant for over 15 years now. However, presently, I am trying to switch to doing things I love. Those things are writing, studying, music, and other encouraging activities. Another thing I love is studying God’s Word at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about free online Bible courses, Click Here).
Originally, I am from Suriname, a small and beautiful country in South America. I went to St. Maarten on vacation and later went back to stay. I am in love with Jesus and have a prophetic calling. But I want to focus on the Word of God. I believe that the Word of God is the basis for all callings. A true and pure foundation is necessary. Without this, your calling is worthless.
My Calling
I am the second child of my mother. I was called from the womb and have been inside the church since then. In Suriname, I started to do ministry with “Bribi Ministries.” I was a prayer warrior. Afterward, I migrated to St. Maarten where I took prophetic training. Now, I do online ministry and sometimes visit different churches.
I always felt drawn to fulfilling a godly mission, especially, to fulfill God’s will in the church. Christians can do more if they are motivated and connected. For that reason, I want to be used as an instrument in my community in motivating and connecting the Body of Christ.
Challenges
I also had a dream of having a big, sweet family. But it went wrong from my youthful days. My father died when I was seven. My mom was unemployed, so I had to assist her at a very early stage of my life. I had smaller brothers and sisters, so my older brother and I had to help. We started working and studying. My dreams were shattered.
My mom had to work hard. And we had to try to survive. I studied while working. Then I met weird friends as I grew older, who drew me into the party life. I was born and had grown up in church. And I always had a good relationship with God. But now this new lifestyle damaged my relationship with God.
At first, partying felt good. But after a while, I became so accustomed to going out and partying, it became a part of my life. Soon, I could not do without it. I drifted away and could not hear God’s voice any longer. I became filled with darkness from within and was attached to ungodly friends. Gradually, I felt more and more miserable and sunk deeper and deeper into the pit of an ungodly life. As I was seeking love outside God’s principles, I realized that I was going backward. I lost control of my life and my financial assets, and that prompted me to cry out to God.
God Woke Me Up
One day, God woke me up. He had not spoken to me in quite a while. God told me to put on the television. There was a movie playing the part where Solomon sat in his chair and watched as the Queen of Sheba was having a party for her pagan gods. I dropped to the floor and started crying. The revelation hit me at once, and I slipped into the bathroom. I felt like I had to vomit. At that moment, I knew I had deserted God, my friend. I replaced Him with pagan worship. After I repented, God slowly restored me. I asked for forgiveness, and He welcomed me back!
New Direction and Studying God’s Word at CLI
Because of my experience, I decided to also become a pillar in the house of God to help others that are lost in bad habits and help them to find their way back home. I know how it feels with the pain and all of its consequences. And I want to show them love and tell them that I understand. They don’t have to feel ashamed. I felt weird and ashamed to tell anyone in my church why I at times did not show up anymore. Most of the time, I just had an excuse for each one of them when I met them on the road.
That is why I am studying God’s Word at the Christian Leaders Institute. The class on restoration fired up the desire inside of me to help others even more. When I heard the pain in the voice of all these people’s testimony, I knew that the work is great, and the laborers are few. Thank you, CLI, for this opportunity to receive ministry training!
May God bless everyone that reads my testimony!
