From Ashes to Beauty
My name is Ruth. My father wanted to ensure his daughters grew up with a solid biblical name to remind us constantly of God’s presence in our lives. I’ve had ups and downs with that, but God is faithful. Now, I am at the Christian Leaders Institute gaining competence in my ministry calling (Learn more about online free Bible courses, Click Here).
My Spiritual Journey
My parents came to the USA from Portugal soon after they married. So, my sister and I were born here. We grew up faithfully and fervently attending our bi-lingual church, mostly every day of the week and twice on Sundays. At 12 years old, I realized I should give my life to Christ officially and publicly, so I did. I was a child and had the faith of a child. The church we attended was sound, but those growing up in it seemed to grow in its culture and not so much in personal faith for ourselves.
When I went away to college, I drifted from what had become a superficial relationship with Jesus. I partied and lived a generally wild life. That life proved to be good at one thing, getting me kicked out of school and back home. My husband and I met when I was 21. We married almost four years later. Nine months after our vows, my father passed. Three months after that, I was pregnant with our son. A year after that, I had thyroid cancer.
During all this time, I used God as a bandaid. I went to Him in my need and walked away once He fixed or healed it. We had a daughter five years after our son. We bought houses and built our kingdom as the foundation of our lives silently crumbled. On the verge of divorce, I well and truly cried out to Jesus that I was done doing things my way. I needed Him and only Him. Again, He rescued me.
Ministry Journey: Gaining Competence in My Calling at CLI
Married for almost 22 years now, our children, 20 and 15 years old, grew up in a loving, God-fearing home. Unfortunately, when I had my thyroid surgery, the doctor inadvertently nicked my vocal cords and paralyzed the left one. God has since called me to sing. He has given me a desire to play guitar and my husband a desire for bass and sound. Our son plays six instruments, and our daughter plays five. We have a worship team and a family ministry band called SEED Christian Music. God has made beautiful what was dead and broken. He has made beauty from ashes. There is no way I could have imagined what a life He had planned for us.
In recent years, I’ve found myself in many mentoring and counseling roles in my church with young women of our congregation. God has placed it on my heart to be well prepared for the next mission He wants me on. This is the reason I have decided to study with CLI/CLI. I want to do my very best to be a well-equipped soldier for whatever comes next. I am excited to be gaining competence in my calling from God. Then I can help lead those hurting as I was into His loving arms.

My Family and Work
I am from the beautiful Caribbean twin-island states of Antigua and Barbuda. I grew up in the small village of New Winthropes in the island’s northern region. My extraordinary wife is Tallio. Together we have an amazing daughter, Keziah Joseph, age nine (9).
My employment is with the Government of Antigua within the Family and Social Service Division. I am in the Counselling Unit, where I have functioned as a Biblical counselor for approximately eight (8) years. I desire to continuously present Jesus Christ as our life and the solution in all our earthly circumstances.
My Journey to Ministry Study Online at CLI
Growing up, I attended the Wesleyan Holiness Church with my great aunt, Ms. James, on Sundays. However, during my teenage years through my young adulthood, I only attended church on “old year’s eve” to ring in the New Year!
I started thinking about the meaning of my life and my purpose here on planet earth in 2000. After I tragically tore my ACL during the first University basketball game of my senior year. In my mid-twenties, preceding my university years, I started attending the St. John’s Pentecostal Church in the capital city of Antigua. Sometime during the Pentecostal journey, I called upon the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. I had no earthly idea what it meant to have the Lord as my Savior during those years.
After that, I spent ten (10) years in the Pentecostal Denomination. I was trying to fill the deep-seated spiritual vacuum within my spirit that only Jesus Christ Himself is the source. Eventually, I met the Person of Jesus Christ. The People to People Ministry taught me who Jesus is and what He means in my life. Today, I know that I am a child born of God, and my passion is to proclaim Jesus Christ!
Through the Christian Leaders Institute online, I will be better equipped to proclaim Jesus Christ. I will also know His Word more accurately and effectively. Thank you for reading my journey to ministry study online!

Journey of Faith
Hello! My name is Raga Vali; 40 and single. I’m from Papua New Guinea. We call it a “Land of the unexpected.” Currently, I live in my home country and serve in my local church. My journey of faith brought me to the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about online free Bible courses, Click Here).
I have five siblings – four boys and a sister -and I am the third in my family. My eldest brother is a pastor doing a full-time ministry with his lovely wife. So, they are my role models.
My Work Life
I worked for over 19 years to earn my living. Then, on July 15, 2020, I decided to quit my job as an Executive Assistant. I used to be a 50/50 Christian from my teenage days until 2018. That is when I began to hear God’s voice telling me, “Raga, you have a purpose, and that is to build Kingdom Business.” So, I began to seek God’s face more and search for truths. However, the voice kept telling me, “Raga, you have a purpose, and that is to build Kingdom Business.” The voice also said, “Raga, you are too comfortable where you are. You need to trust me and take a leap of faith to chase after your real calling.” I knew it was God’s voice, so I took a leap of faith and left my job to start a new journey called “Faith.”
Leap of Faith
After quitting my job, I decided to go home to my village to stay for a while. A voice whispered during my stay, “Take care of your old grandmother.” So, with faith, I began to care for my grandmother (90+years old). I fed her every morning, lunchtime, and dinner. I washed her, cleaned for her, and used all my toiletries to make her feel good and look good. People that walked past her house complimented her that she looked brand new. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to me (the words had weight – It was Faith).
I took care of her for five months. Then I moved back to the city to prepare my documents for my final entitlements. In July 2021, my grandmother was promoted to Glory. That same day, I got my funds credited to my account, and I also arranged to purchase a 15 seater bus. After returning from my grandmother’s burial, I bought the bus and called it “Mustard Seed” with the slogan: “Faith mogo.” Mogo is in my mother tongue language and translates as “Faith Only.” The bus currently operates as a public motor vehicle and provides services that glorify God’s Name! God is Good!
My Time in My Local Church
I rededicated my life to Christ on November 21, 2021. Now, I am always available 100% to do anything that involves God’s Kingdom. I have been given roles to take care of in my local church. I love my new life and regret those years that I didn’t have time for church activities due to work demands. But now, I am grateful that I can surrender my all to Jesus to use me as His vessel. He is in control of my life and the center of my life. With my daily Bible reading, daily personal prayer life, and being obedient to God’s Word, I see and feel the power of the Holy Spirit working in my life. All Glory goes back to God!
Journey of Faith: God’s Calling
I hear God telling me that I am to do full-time ministry. So, it has been my daily prayer, asking God to teach me how to pray and preach and proclaim His Word to the people. I also ask Him to give me wisdom, boldness, courage, and the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through me.
He heard my prayers and led me to Christian Leaders Institute for free Online Courses. I don’t know how I found it on the Internet, but I did and know it is God who led me to this school. I’m so thankful because CLI, CLI, and CLA have provided everything I need. I pray that I will complete the online lessons given, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I will learn as much as possible to know more about God!
I have found my true purpose, and it’s a Blessed Life.
