My Spiritual Journey
I grew up in a family of many believers and pastors. For most of my life, I grew up in the church and felt the presence of God. However, I never quite understood it. As I entered adolescence, I chose the wrong friends and partner for myself, this led to a life of disobedience, alcoholism, and no plans for my future.
Pregnant out of wedlock by an unbeliever who I thought was my soul mate, I discovered he was abusive and carried a lot of trauma which affected his life. I had my son, Adriano, at 23. We later found out that he had neurological complications. By 24, I was a single mom to my special needs boy.
God took me on a journey of losing myself even more, eventually finding His love and experiencing His grace. I received healing and deliverance. I became a volunteer at my local church. Able to change careers and start teaching English, I taught in Vietnam for approximately 18 months before COVID-19 began. It was during this time, I realized God was calling me into ministry to women.
Marriage and a Move
I trusted God for a Godly man, and three years ago, I met him. He had a similar journey of disobedience, but thankfully, also experienced the power of God and was transformed. Now, he is a worship leader in the church and a great evangelist. He is also a wonderful husband and a loving father. We relocated to Mauritius earlier this year and we trust God to lead us in His Will for our lives.
Ministry to Women Calling
I am passionate about ministry to women and the struggling. That would include abused women, single mothers, special needs parents, and any person who feels knocked down by the struggles of life. Having experienced the power of God move in and through my life, I trust God for a greater territory to bring healing, wholeness, and deliverance.
I am grateful for CLI because I want to be equipped for ministry but do not have the funds to do so right now. One day, I will become a donor to this God-birthed vision at CLI. May God bless the visionaries and volunteers at CLI!

Servant Leader for Christ
My name is Serawit Woldemariam, and I am a servant leader for Christ. I am studying tuition-free online courses at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about studying the Bible online, Click Here).
My Story
I live on the beautiful island of Whidbey about 30 miles north of Seattle, WA. I first came to the United States as a 13-year-old boy escaping war-ravaged Ethiopia. First, I lived with a cousin in Atlanta, but she found a family to take me through another cousin who lived in Seattle. The family that took me in had 20 adopted kids, and they lived on Whidbey Island. A couple of years later, my new family had some law issues. So, I had to find a new home because I was not officially adopted yet. At 15 years old, no one wanted a teen boy. So, that left me to ponder my future.
Even though the family went to church, I was not interested at all. Going to church was mandatory, we did everything but pay attention to the teachings. However, when I faced homelessness and an uncertain future, I started to ask and wonder, if there is a God. If there is a God, does He care about me? Fortunately for me, in a last-ditch effort, my host mom asked the pastor of the church we went to if he would like to take me in so I could go to school. That’s how I found the family that became more than a host but a true family. Through this experience I found God. God made Himself real to me. Going to church became a joy! I served as a youth leader, soundman, and other services in the church.
Moving to Ethiopia
After finishing high school, I went to Northwest Nazarene University on a soccer scholarship to study international business. When I was in college, the Lord spoke to me to go back to Ethiopia. I was to start a farm that would teach people how to nourish their physical and spiritual lives. In 2000, I moved back to Ethiopia and started Dove ranch, a farm to teach about sustainable farming and God. I was involved with Farming God’s way (Zimbabwe) a no-till farming method for poor farmers to increase yield with little input.
After starting the farm, I became involved in the local church in different capacities. One of my favorites was to start a soccer team and witness to the local young people. Also, I helped start an all-city church soccer tournament. There, young people could hear the gospel and fellowship with young people in other churches.
Called to Be a Servant
After running the farm for 13 years, my wife, our two daughters, and I moved back to the United States. My wife loves the Lord and is amazing at ministering to others in different ways. We both feel called to ministry. Children’s ministry is her calling. The Lord is calling me back to serve the poor in farming.

My Story
I am a passionate lover of God since the age of 14. God called me through an irresistible self-evident conviction and personal revelation to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. Married to a pastor, I support him in the work of the ministry.
Despite all challenges and constraints, I always hoped, longed, and prayed for an opportunity to have a formal education and most importantly to acquire deeper theological knowledge. Further, I want to be effective, competent, and confident in my calling and divine assignment as a ministry servant and Life Coach.
Through the Holy Spirit, while searching online for an affordable seminary, I found the Christian Leaders Institute. CLI is indeed incredibly amazing! I believe God inspired the establishment of CLI for people like me. Certainly, all hope is not lost! I am eternally grateful to God and the leadership of CLI for this ministry and theological education opportunity. May the Lord bless and strengthen you more and uphold you to the end! In Jesus’ name.
Furthermore, my 36-year journey and walk with the Lord Jesus has been incredibly amazing. I love Him so much and will give up everything in the world to belong to and identify with Him.
