David Mutyaba has truly been on a journey, not just in his travels and moves around Uganda and South Africa, but a spiritual journey as well to discover God’s call on his life. In his own words “my decision was that if God wants me to minister, He will open the needed doors. While searching on the internet for training that did not cost an arm and a leg financially, I came across Christian Leaders Institute. It seemed to have what I was searching for.”
My Calling Journey
My name is David Mutyaba. I am a Ugandan but am currently a resident in South Africa. My family was religious, and we attended church quite regularly. In high school things changed when my parents gave their lives to Christ and began taking us to their new church in the hope that we would also get converted. This didn’t happened.
Later at tertiary, I gave my life to Christ as a result of a friend who changed radically character wise as a result of accepting Christ. I had a number of weaknesses and had finally seen someone who had truly transformed as a result of accepting Christ. After tertiary, I worked briefly and got married and then moved to South Africa. While still in Uganda, I was part of a church choir. I received a prophecy about my calling when we had gone to minister at another church as a choir. Therefore, when I got to South Africa, I joined the choir of the church that I was fellowshipping at. In due course, I began teaching in the church and thought I was finally pursuing my calling. It was not as easy as my expectations had been. However, due to several circumstances, I ended up changing cities and starting over. In the new city I moved to, I joined the Worship Team in church and after about 4 years moved to the audio-visual team. This was all good, but this was not my primary area of calling.
In 2016 while participating at a prayer meeting we were part of, the issue of calling and purpose kept on tugging at my heart. I began asking God to reveal my purpose to me with clarity. During this time, I continued serving in the audio-visual team.
In August 2018, again I changed cities and moved to Cape Town. This time the move was for work reasons. There were a lot of challenges in my life, and I found myself searching. In my heart I knew that am called but had no formal training. Also my decision was that if God wants me to minister, He will open the needed doors. While searching on the internet for training that did not cost an arm and a leg financially, I came across Christian Leaders Institute. It seemed to have what I was searching for. My desire is to understand the Bible better so as to be able to explain it in simple practical terms that anybody can understand and apply.
I am new in the church where I fellowship now and have just signed up to join the audio-visual team. My spiritual dream is to be a well rounded Bible teacher, impacting lots of people to live up to their potential.
