My name is Nathan Brush from the U.S.A. I was born in Taft, California, in 1973. Since 2004, I have been in the construction trade. Currently, I am studying biblically ministry training online at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about online Bible classes, Click Here).
My Spiritual Beginning and Challenges
My first knowledge of God was in San Francisco, California. I was about eight years old when my Great Aunt would pick my brother and me up every Sunday for church. We would have lunch at McDonald’s afterward. My Aunt had us in the choir. My brother and I didn’t like choir much, but we did it anyway. Then, one day, she stopped coming to pick us up for church. We never hear about what happened. I didn’t really attend church after that.
From a family of drugs and alcohol, I ran the streets in San Francisco. Mainly, the fisherman’s wharf was where I did what was needed to survive. As I got older, I got into trouble and served time in jail for drugs. In October of 2017, I wrecked my vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty to a DUI, which made that my second offense. I lost everything that year as I was suspended from the union trades and had no place to live.
God Changed and Called Me
I knew I needed to change my life. So, I asked Jesus to come into my heart and teach me how to be a man of God. I’ve had some struggles along the way, mainly my own doing. However, God has been faithful. I was learning to be a Godly man and a warrior for Christ. My wife and I met in March of 2018, and in July 2018, we married. Two weeks later, we packed up the kids and what we could carry and moved to Ohio.
We are currently back in Idaho serving God. God kept putting the word “cornerstone” on my heart. Mainly from Psalm 118:22, “The stone the builder rejected, has now become the cornerstone.” God is my cornerstone. The calling I have on my life is to help men be mighty warriors for God and be the men God has planned us to be.
Yet, I first have to get deeply rooted in the things of God before I can help others like myself. That is why I’m attending the Christian Leaders Institute. I am grateful for the free biblical ministry training they offer online!
