Discovering God’s Plan for my Life
My name is Roshan Seneviratne. I live in Sydney, Australia. I am excited to find the Christian Leaders Institute for Bible college ministry training online (Learn more about free online Bible courses, Click Here).
Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), my father was a Buddhist and my mother a Christian. According to the deal that my parents had, I was forced to follow in my father’s footsteps as a Buddhist. My sister was to follow in my mother’s footsteps as a Christian. While I did enjoy being a Buddhist for a while, I always knew there was more. In May of 1979, after our migration to Australia in 1977, I found what I was longing for when I attended a Billy Graham meeting in Sydney. I gave my life to Christ. It was a pivotal moment in my life. A decision that would change everything.
My Spiritual Journey Begins
Following my conversion, I spent time in the Anglican church. There I was baptized and confirmed and also served as an altar boy. However, I still felt there was more. That’s when through a series of miraculous events, I discovered Jubilee Faith Center in 1984. It was a Charismatic church that operated in the gifts of the Spirit and preached the uncompromised Word of God. I joined the church and went to every meeting. I helped out wherever I could. When they advertised their Bible College that was to start the following year, I was the first to enroll.
Training for Ministry
So, beginning in 1985 and over the next two and a half years, I obtained a double Diploma in Bible Studies, which was all that was available. One diploma was from Jubilee Faith Ministries Bible College and the other from the World Outreach Bible Institute. During this time, I also led praise and worship, taught a small group, and even helped out in various capacities in administration at the church.
The more involved I got, the more convinced I became that God wanted me to go into ministry. That’s when I made the difficult decision to quit my Bachelor of Science Degree, which I was already two years into at the University of Sydney. I then fully committed to the ministry and God’s call on my life. This decision wasn’t very popular with my parents. However, my love for God was so much greater than my love for science and any worldly academic qualifications (not that I have anything against them).
For the next three years, everything went great. Then due to family problems that the pastors were having, the church changed hands and merged with another church called Word City. That is where I met my wife‑to‑be, Emily. But then, it closed its doors at the end of 1987 because of family problems that those pastors were having as well. The apostle Paul surely knew what he was talking about when he said, “For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?” (1st Timothy 3:5).
The Beginning of Full Life – The Church
Over the next few years, I went from church to church looking for what I had lost. I got involved in ministry wherever I could. I led praise and worship, taught in Bible College, ran the church Book Shop, taught children’s church, ran the youth ministry, etc. Then, in 1993, God spoke to me in a most profound way at a church conference I attended. He impressed upon me to start a church called Full Life. It has now been in operation for the past 28 years. Even though our congregation has fluctuated in numbers over the years, it has a solid core leadership. It is still going strong today, by the grace of God.
My Ordination
It should be mentioned that, during my ‘transition years’ (before starting Full Life), I married the love of my life, Emily. The same minister who married us also recognized the calling of God in my life. So, he formally ordained me into the ministry on the 3rd of August, 1994. It was a couple of months after the church started. By the way, Emily and I are still together today, and still each other’s best friend.
Now, the church’s vision (which depends on a team of people) is “to reach the lost and perfect the saints” with the “rightly divided Word of Truth” (2nd Timothy 2:15). My vision is that the Body of Christ succeed at everything that they do. Especially now that I have two children of my own – Sarah, 24, and Daniel, 22. Both of them are serving the Lord with all their heart. I want to see them grow in the Lord and excel at everything they do.
Discovering CLI, CLA, and CLI for Bible College Ministry Training
That’s why the discovery of the Christian Leaders Institute (CLI), Alliance (CLA), and College (CLI) for Bible College ministry training is so significant. It is truly an answer to prayer. I know that my entire family will be enrolling in their various courses over time. We will be finally able to fulfill the calling of God in all our lives to the fullest extent.
I have no words to express the immense love, joy, and gratitude I feel towards CLI, CLA, and CLI. They are the epitome of what true Christian leaders are and should be like, and dare I say, what Christ Himself would look like if He were here in person today. I have already told many of my friends and colleagues about them, and look forward to learning everything I can from them and adding to this profile on a regular basis!
Thank you so much, Christian Leaders! I know that as much as God is blessing you here and now, there is waiting for each of you, in glory, an eternal, abundant, ever‑increasing blessing. It will go beyond whatever you could ever ask or even think!
