Study to Show Yourself Approved
My name is Ron Mouser, and I live in southern Texas. I am currently the Director of Mobilization and Training for World Indigenous Missions. I previously served on the mission field in southern Mexico for 17 years. Although I have been in ministry for twenty-eight years, I have never received a formal minister education from an accredited seminary in the United States. Therefore, I became a student of the Christian Leaders Institute for formal minister education.
My Journey
My mom left my father in the middle of the night when I was seven years old because of his abusive alcoholism. She remarried a few years later to a man who genuinely cared for her. However, he rejected me. When that marriage also failed, we moved to Southern Missouri. There, my aunt began a youth Bible study in our home every Friday night. My uncle began sharing the Bible with us. I started reading the Bible daily in tenth grade because of their influence.
Reading the scriptures, I understood that Jesus was more than a good teacher. I understood that He existed before creation and that all things were made through Him. The words of John 1:1-3 opened my eyes to the truth: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.” (ESV)
Surrender and Service
I understood from the scriptures that all of us have gone astray and fallen short of God’s standard. Understanding I was a sinner was easy. The hard part was believing I had a Heavenly Father who loved me enough to send His son to die for my sins. In the summer of 1990, I surrendered my heart to the Lord. Immediately, I looked for opportunities to share my faith and serve in the local church. I led various youth Bible studies and street witnessing. Further, I served as a children’s pastor in rural Missouri before I finished high school.
When many of my friends went off to college, I began serving full-time at my local church even though they couldn’t pay me a salary. Later, when the Lord called me to missionary work during an extended time of fasting and prayer, I went, even without financial support or a sending agency.
Formal Minister Education at CLI
While in the field, I completed a missionary training course designed for Mexican nationals. Then, I completed the three-year International School of Ministry certificate course and other non-accredited Bible training. Yet, I have long desired to have an accredited ministry degree. It always seemed out of my reach as I continue to work in partner-supported ministry positions and now have a wife and five kids. That is until I found the Christian Leaders Institute.
