To preside over weddings in South Dakota, you must be well-acquainted with the state’s unique laws. South Dakota, in accordance with SDCL 25-1-29, generally allows ordained ministers and authorized representatives of recognized religions to conduct marriage ceremonies.
Ordination or Authorization: In South Dakota, under SDCL 25-1-29, wedding officiants need to be ordained ministers or representatives of any recognized religious denomination.
Documentation: Officiants may need to provide proof of their ordination or authorization from their religious institution if requested by relevant county or local officials where the wedding is to be held.
Legal Age: Wedding officiants must be at least 18 years old.
Residency: South Dakota does not stipulate residency requirements for wedding officiants. They can be residents of any state or country.

- After completing the Skills course, you will enroll in the Licensed Christian Wedding Officiant Recognition Class. This class recognizes your online training and completes your ordination into a local geographic endorsement-based ordination credential. You will be listed in the Christian Leaders Alliance Directory, and you may order your ordination credentials. You are eligible to register a local ministry at a Soul Center.

At Christian Leaders Institute, our college degrees are offered through our Leadership Excellence School. We provide access to both Associate Degrees and Bachelor Degrees. To begin our degree program, you must first enroll as a student in our School of Christian Development. Every student starts by creating a study account at the Christian Development school.
