Who Am I?
My name is Krista Baber from the USA. I am currently a stay-at-home mother of three handsome boys and a wife to a loving husband of nearly 20 years! My story does not begin with faith. However, looking back, I see how God has worked through my life to get to where I am today. He never gave up on me and persistently called me even in my darkest hour. Eventually, God led me to the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about online free Bible courses, Click Here) and CLI’s Leadership Excellence School to become a Life Coach Minister.
My Story
I was born in 1985 to two loving parents who loved me but not each other. My mother gave birth to me at 16, and my father left high school his senior year to work multiple jobs to support us. I spent the majority of my childhood raised by my Spirit-filled grandmother, mainly because my parents were still children themselves. My parents were rebellious against anything Christian due to resentment from both growing up in imperfect, broken Christian homes.
Flash forward to the age of seven when my parents finally divorced after years of fighting and complete brokenness in our home. I began to witness at a young age many men and women come and go in my life. However, the one thing that remained constant was the faith and unconditional love of my grandmother. She became my rock before I met Jesus. I attended church with her twice on Sundays and Wednesday nights nearly every week for the first 15 years of my life. Unfortunately, I then went home to a place where Jesus wasn’t known, and bitterness and resentment held a significant place of authority.
Salvation and Rebellion
My grandparent’s next-door neighbor asked me if I wanted to attend their church. Since I was mainly sleeping at my grandmother’s, I decided to go. The pastor asked if anyone wanted to commit their life to Christ. I cannot remember how old I was, but I know I was hurting from my parent’s divorce. I felt a nudge to go to the front. The neighbor came with me and took me into a room, and had me repeat a prayer to ask Jesus into my heart. I didn’t understand it, but I just knew it was what I wanted.
At the age of 15, I stopped attending church. I rebelled and walked a very dark path. I met my husband at the age of 17 and became pregnant with our first boy at 20. In 2007, at the age of 22, I married my husband. One year later, my second son was born.
New Hope
My marriage took a dark turn when the spirit of infidelity entered five years after we married. In my darkest hour, someone who had been an enemy in the past invited me to church. It happened to be the same church where I had given my life to Jesus many years ago!
Amongst the pain from marital issues, I unexpectedly lost my dear aunt. Looking back now, I am thankful for the pain. It was in the pain that God called me back to Him. I went back to the same church I grew up with my grandmother. I made a public declaration of my faith and was baptized. After rededicating my life to Jesus, the Lord taught me forgiveness. After that, I chose to fight for my marriage. A couple of years later, in 2015, my husband, who had never known Christ, was saved and baptized! Thank you, Jesus! In 2017, my third son was born.
New Beginnings
That same year, we left my grandmother’s church and found a church home where we could grow and mature in Christ as Spirit-filled believers. God had called us to this church because we were destined for more. Unfortunately, our prior church was full of restrictions on how women serve in the church. I know this is why God called us to where we currently worship, Bethel Family Worship Center, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A Call to Serve
My husband and I have been at our church for nearly four years now. I began to serve God in different capacities when we started going there. I remember the pastor honored those serving and had each person walk on stage at a service. There were only a handful of people in the crowd left. My husband and I were a part of that handful. I committed from that point forward that I would serve in whatever capacity God opened up for me. It wasn’t but a few services later that they needed help in the media ministry. In obedience, I signed up and committed my service to God through media!
After I began serving God this way, we were all impacted by Covid. The church shut down for a few months. It was nearly a year before I could serve again, but it wasn’t just Powerpoint presentations for the congregation this time. Now it was operating the camera, lyrics, and the live stream! The devil is a liar! God is exalted!
Yes, Lord!
Recently, the leaders asked me to try our new mobile camera. I was so honored when told I was one of the best camera people and trusted to begin this new journey with mobile views. Furthermore, I have grown closer and closer every day in my walk with Jesus in serving others. God has called me to do even more in ministry, and that’s when I discovered the CLI’s Leadership Excellence School. After some time of fasting and praying, I believe my journey of pain and hardship has led me to this incredible school to work towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Leadership!
A Brighter Future: Life Coach Minister Calling
As a new student at CLI’s Leadership Excellence School, I am working through the course materials while praying for God’s direction on where to go from here. My passion has always been a fascination with the human mind. In 2011, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Phoenix University. I always had a passion for understanding our brains and behaviors, even before becoming a Christian.
After accepting Christ, I came across Romans 12:2. That verse spoke mountains into my spirit. It reignited a fire inside of me to help others renew their minds! Then, I heard about life coaching, which led me directly to CLI’s Leadership Excellence School. I am here to pursue a career as a Life Coach Minister. I believe this is where God has led me to get the knowledge, skills, and training I need to become who He has called me to be. Praise Him!
I am so thankful God called me out of my grave and to be a Life Coach Minister. Now I am dancing every day and walking more and more in the light of Jesus! All praise, honor, and glory to God forever and ever. Amen.
