My Christian Journey
Greetings! My name is Favour Lorraine Chanda Makungo. I am studying to learn more about ministry service at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about online free Bible courses, Click Here).
Born in Zambia, Lusaka, on April 10th, 1975, I am a Zambian lady, who came from a Christian traditional family. My parents were both Christians. I am the eldest of five siblings. We were three girls and two boys. One of my sisters died twenty-six years ago. It affected me a lot and made me want to seek God even more.
I finished Secondary school in 1993. After that, I spent most of my time at home before I went to college. I started off my career by studying banking at Zambia Institute of Business College for a short while. Then, I had to look for a job.
Changes and Challenges
I gave my life to the Lord on April 18, 1999. It was an exciting time for me in my life. In 2000, I moved to the United Kingdom to study for a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business for 4 years.
My Christian walk in the UK was quite a challenge for me because it was a totally different culture. However, this challenge taught me to pray more and to depend more on God during this time. During my academics, I needed God very much. That’s how I developed my prayer life and read the Bible to know more of God and what He expected of me. During this time, I also lost both of my parents in a short space of time. It was very traumatizing and affected my studies. However, it also made me draw closer to God because I wanted to understand why the deaths of my parents happened so fast.
After I completed my studies, I worked a bit in the UK and returned home to Zambia. When I returned home, I continued with my walk with God. At this time, I was more focused and wanted to grow even more. So, I got involved in music ministry and intercessory ministry in the church I attended.
Serving in Ministry and Study at CLI
I started working for a Pharmaceutical company and continued serving God. After some time, the company decided to close its offices in Zambia which meant I lost my job. After that, I stayed at home for close to two years. Then I was hired to help out with finances at my church. It was a temporary position, but after the contract ended, they decided to hire me for a permanent position. So, I am still working for the ministry in the Finance Department.
It has been a journey of ups and downs, and I am glad I have known God all these years. I am studying at the Christian Leaders Institute to learn more about ministry service. My greatest joy is to see people saved and living their life for God.
